Rock Wallabies -
Feed the cute and friendly Mareeba Rock wallabies. There is no
better place to come in contact with the Mareeba Rock Wallaby. This
distinct species of wallaby is found only in rocky outcrops of the
Mareeba Area, north to Mt. Carbine and South to Mt. Garnet. Coloured
to match their stony surroundings, small Mareeba Rock Wallabies are
curious, quick moving and great fun to play with.
At Granite Gorge visitors have a fantastic opportunity to get up
close and personal with the wallabies in their natural habitat. -
Swimming at Granite Gorge - an experience not to be missed!
There are some
excellent swimming holes perfect for all ages.
Bathe in a natural formed outdoor spa. Granite Creek winds its way
through the rocky terrain forming tranquil pools and swimming holes.
Here you can enjoy a great family experience not to be missed.

Camping -
It is a
fabulous place for a camping holiday whether you have just a day or
are planning to spend a week and relax in the heart of the North
Queensland outback. Full camping facilities are situated at the head of the
Gorge. Put up a tent, bring your own campervan or stay at one of
ours available for visitors. -
Wild life -
Mareeba Rock
Wallabies are abundant and visitors enjoy close encounters with
these furry animals, who like to be hand fed. Possums and gliders
inhabit the trees, where you can also find scores of flying foxes
(fruit bats). Frill-necked
lizard is also a frequent guest to this area. -
Birdwatching -
Extensive birdlife includes Tawny Frogmouths, Bowerbirds, Gouldian
Finches, Kookaburras and rare parrots and Rosellas. Altogether there
are well over 200 species of savannah birds present in the area.
